What is it about?

The mountains and rivers of Western Serbia give you the impression of being part of a fairy tale. Waterfalls like Gostilje or Stopića cave are true marvels of mother nature.  Zlatibor is a modern mountain resort, but it is easy to make an escape to nearby Sirogojno or Ljubiš where your senses adapt to a totally different vibe- one of a Serbian village. Tara mountain, on the other hand, is a National Park where rugged wilderness dominates. Somewhere in between Mokra Gora is nested with its village-hotel Mećavnik, a visionary project of a famous movie director. Through the mist the Ćira train whistles, huffs, and blows steam while going up and down the hills of the Šargan Eight railroad. Mećavnik has its sister city, called Andrićgrad-stone town built on the Drina river, today part of Višegrad, praised by poets and novelists. Griffons and golden eagles have their own peace of heaven in Western Serbia-Uvac Canyon, a place where breathing stops for a moment and one stays silent to appreciate and enjoy this masterpiece of nature. As for masterpieces, one can only presume why one fresco painting from Mileševa monastery became worldwide and a space-wide symbol of peace and human civilization.

What is the concept?

The pure nature of Western Serbia's highlands, its thick pine forests, fresh air, and breathtaking views surely are a vision, and remedy for the city sights sore eyes. Local gourmet cuisine will surely fill your belly, while the masterpiece of medieval Serbian art will definitely fill your soul.

DAY 1 BELGRADE-UVAC CANYON- SJENICA

Our journey into Western Serbia will start at 9 AM in front of your accommodation. The first stop on our tour is the Uvac River with its zigzag-shaped river bed, a prominent sanctuary of Griffon Vultures. Due to the exquisite beauty of the Uvac River Canyon this area is a paradise for photography enthusiasts. After a short hike, we will be blessed with the best panoramic view of this marvel of nature. DAY 2 SJENICA-MILEŠEVA- SIROGOJNO OLD VILLAGE-GOSTILJE WATERFALL-STOPIĆA CAVE- LJUBIŠ

Following breakfast, our tour continues to the 13th-century medieval monastery- Mileševa. Its frescoes are considered one of the best European works of art from the medieval period. Reveal which fresco was a symbol of peace after the Cuban Missile Crisis and included in the first attempt to communicate with extraterrestrial life forms. The wave of pristine nature will be followed by the taste of unique local dairy products in combination with Shepard's Bun (Komplet Lepinja Srb.) from the long-lasting family bakery. Our next stop would be the most popular tourist mountain resort in this region, Zlatibor.  Our focus would be on the eastern unspoiled and restful area that is not burdened by mass tourism. An open-air ethnographic museum Sirogojno keeps the testimony of local customs and architecture. Gostilje Waterfall and Stopica Cave are the sights that will be visited. We will be accommodated in a rural household in Ljubiš village.
