Step by step…

Day 1- Belgrade - Golubac Fortress- Lepenski Vir - Captain Misa’s Hill - Kovilovo hike - Porec Bay

Our tour will begin in front of your accommodation in Belgrade at 9 AM. This day will be reserved for hiking warm-up and familiarization with the rich history of human presence in this abundant region. Our first stop is a storyteller of communication, trade, and military importance. The 14th-century Golubac Fortress is a vigilant guardian of our hiking venue - National Park Djerdap (The Iron gates). The keep (Donjon) positioned on the top of the hill is the goal of our first hike, short but steep, supported by the ropes (black trail). Observation from the top of the keep reveals the answer to the question of why this fortress was never conquered in a battle.

The forefather of urban settlements in Europe is our next stop - Lepenski Vir. Stories of civilization that lived in this region 9000 years ago will be revealed at the archaeological site preserved in its original form. Through the stories of religion, art, customs, anatomy, and everyday life you will be surprised by the level of knowledge and advancement achieved by its inhabitants.

It is lunchtime thus Captain Misa’s Hill, a unique open-air gallery of sculptures made of stone and wood, is a perfect place for an outdoor lunch accompanied by a mesmerizing view of the valley. After dedicated time for digesting mouthwatering local dishes, our tour continues to Kovilovo Vantage Point - low requirements trail with an exceptional panoramic view at the end. Our accommodation will be located near Donji Milanovac

A few stops for rest will be organized on our way to the Veliki Strbac (the highest point of Miroc Mountain). From this place, everything can be seen clearly; the Romanian side of The Iron gates, Dubova Bay, and the Big Boiler.  Our way down consists of a combined hike through the forest and over the plateau.

In order to get a full impression of this magnificent region from both perspectives, from the bottom, and from the top, the boat ride from Tekija will be organized. This boat ride guides us through the history of human presence, ingenuity, and the importance of the Danube River for trade and communication. The first stop on this ride is a plaque (Tabula Trajana) that commemorates the completion of the bridge- the great achievement of engineering that gave the opportunity to Roman Emperor Trajan the to expand his Empire and conquer Dacia. A paddle up the stream our next stop is the biggest stone sculpture in Europe dedicated to Emperor Trajan's adversary- Decebalus, the last king of Dacia. Here the Balloon Stations overcame the problem of navigation through the rough and narrow waters. These are unique examples of ingenuity, and approval that the simplest solution is the best to overcome the problem.
